The ING New York City Marathon
Sunday, November 1st, 2009 7:00 AMCongratulations to all the NYPD Running Club members who finished the 2009 NYC ING Marathon.
Special praise goes out to our top male finisher, Police Officer William Hansler who finished in an amazing time of 2:44:35, and our top female finisher Sergeant Tayler Kim-Borowiec in a time of 3:27:58.
Congratulations to NYPD Police Officer Keith Winchell who competed in the Handcycle Division and finished his first marathon in a time of 2:54. Keith, while assigned to the Highway Division, was injured in the line-of-duty in a motorcycle accident and remains paralysed from the waist down. Keith is an amazing example of a person with a "can-do" attitude and he, like all of our other marathon finishers, should be proud of his accomplishment.
In the annual Mayor's Cup competition the FDNY narrowly beat the NYPD team this year in one of our closest competitions ever. Our top ten members of the service who were scored in the Mayor's Cup Trophy competition were
William Hansler 2:44, John Vanorden 2:56, Calvin Conner 2:58, Terry Allen 3:04, Seth Lynch 3:08, Tim Dowling 3:12, James Schramm 3:13, Gabriel Healy 3:18, Jason Martinoff 3:24, Tayler Kim-Borowiec 3:27
Visit the results link to the right for further results. Look at both the New York Police Department team and the New York Police Department Mayor's Cup team for complete results.
