8th Annual Chicago Police Memorial Run to Remember
Saturday, May 5th, 2012 9:00 AMMore than 544 Chicago Police officers have made the ultimate sacrifice, giving their lives in the line and performance of duty. The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing assistance to the families of our fallen heroes. The event is held at Gold Star Families Park, which honors the brave men and women who dedicated their lives to the protection of the City of Chicago and its visitors.
This event features a 5K USATF certified chip-timed run / 5k non-competitive walk and junior jog on Chicago's beautiful lakefront.
In 2011 29 members of the NYPD Running Club participated in this race and would like to thank the Race Director, Chicago PD Detective Rhonda Anderson, and all the other Chicago PD personnel we met.
In 2011 our team ran in honor of Chicago Police Officer Tom Wortham who was killed in the line of duty just three days after running in the NYPD Memorial Run.
