Law Enforcement Torch Run For Special Olympics
Saturday, May 30th, 2015 9:00 AMThe Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is a partnership between the NYPD Running Club and Special Olympics New York.
It's that time of the year again for us to come out and support Special Olympics New York with our Law Enforcement Torch Run, being held this Saturday in Queens, on May 30, 2015. Everyone who registers will receive an official Dri Fit Law Enforcement Torch Run tee shirt and an NYPD Running Club tee shirt. The route, beginning in Flushing, will be a short ceremonial run of a couple of miles culminating with us leading the athletes onto the field of Queens College for the start of the annual Metro Games competition. Please consider participating in the run, or simply purchase a shirt to support the cause.
Click on the register button on the right and receive an event t-shirt.
We need runners so please email Tom Biggers to sign up as a runner. The entire event will only take about 2 hours so lets show these special athletes that we care about them and support their athletic challenges.
As members of the Law Enforcement community we have a long standing relationship with Special Olympics in the form of the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) program. LETR is the largest grassroots fundraising and public awareness vehicle for Special Olympics throughout the world. Right here in New York more than 5,000 law enforcement individuals participated in various LETR events throughout 2009. We are proud to say that LETR programming raised $1 million dollars for Special Olympics New York through all of their hard work and dedication to the cause.
We will meet at 9am at the TD Bank located at 56-50 Main Street Flushing, NY. The bank is on the corner of Main Street and Booth Memorial Ave. The run will begin at about 9:30 and run over to Queens College for the start of the Special Olympics Metro Tournament.
When registering select the button that says "Join A Team" and select the NYPD Running Club team.
