Chicago Police Memorial Foundation Run to Remember

Saturday, May 1st, 2010 8:00 AM

543 Chicago Police officers have made the ultimate sacrifice, giving their lives in the line and performance of duty. The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing assistance to the families of our fallen heroes. The event is held at Gold Star Families Park, which honors the brave men and women who dedicated their lives to the protection of the City of Chicago and its visitors.

This event features a 5K USATF certified chip-timed run / 5k non-competitive walk and junior jog on Chicago's beautiful lakefront.

In 2009 the NYPD Running Club participated in this race and would like to thank the Race Director, Chicago PD Detective Rhonda Anderson, and all the other Chicago PD personnel we met.

Congratulations to Police Officers Jose Benitez and Jaline Bernier who both came in second place overall in this race. They were also first place in the Law Enforcement category. Other winners were P.O. Will Hansler who won his age group by finishing in fifth place overall and Sgt. Stacey Gustafson who came in second place in her age group.

The NYPD Running Club also dominated in the team competitions by winning the Overall title as well as the women's and men's titles.
